As an avid equestrian, Kimberly competed on the “A” Hunter/Jumper circuit throughout her school years and was the co-captain of the North Carolina State University Equestrian Team. During college, she also trained with an Olympic Coach in Dressage. Kimberly supported her riding adventures through college by starting a horse transportation business as a teenager. She still rides when time permits.
It was Kimberly’s combined knowledge of business and horses that brought her to Kentucky. She was recruited from PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2002 by WinStar Farm, the world leader in thoroughbred horse racing and winner of the 2010 Kentucky Derby with the horse named Super Saver. Kimberly brought a fresh business angle to the thoroughbred industry, first at WinStar handling marketing, data management and special events, and later as a equine business consultant and leading equine economic researcher at the University of Kentucky.
Kimberly Brown’s breed of choice is usually thoroughbreds, however she has ridden many different breeds, including Warmbloods, Paint Horses, Quarter Horses, Kentucky’s native gaited Mountain Horses and other gaited breeds.
